At the Ida B. Wells Center, we endeavor to advance the idea that the criminality of enslaving English-blacks during colonial times formed the structural foundation for racism, economic disparity and social injustice in America today, but we need your help.
One of the most important ways you can help IdaBWellsCenter.net is through monetary donations. These generous gifts will be the foundational support to help maintain and share this project with the world.

We have a $400,000 goal to raise funds, and with wour help, in over 2025–2026, we will:
- Produce and distribute documentary film: KING’S NATIVE SONS: THE UNRECOGNIZED FOURTH. A sweeping historical documentary that exposes the forgotten legal truth behind the American Revolution: that Britain’s abolition of colonial slave laws— not taxation—ignited the rebellion and redefined liberty for 500,000 Afro-English subjects. As the United States nears its 250th anniversary, this film reframes the Revolution’s origin story—revealing how the founding generation’s defiance of English law was less a fight for liberty than a revolt against equality under that law. It demands a national reckoning with the 500,000 Afro-English subjects whose lawful freedom was erased in 1776.
- Commission and publish white papers and host law-and-history symposia with university partners;
- Create accessible curricula, exhibits, and short-form media for classrooms, museums, and cultural venues;
- Train fellows and community ambassadors to elevate descendant narratives across the nation.
To maximize the impact of this audacious initiative with excellence and transparency, we are seeking strategic partners and individuals over the next 24 months as part of our 2025–2026 national program. The task before us is therefore clear: to make good on America’s promise, to confront injustice, and to reimagine the history of America not as a fictional story but as a living reality with an unfulfilled promise.
